A Hobbit's Story In Rhyme And Verse
Just Another Mile Alone On This Honky Tonk Electric Midnight Dream
Author's Note

I will be the first to admit that my poetry is mediocre. I cringe to remember my earliest poems and how proud I was of them when in reality they were... well, let's just leave it at that.

There is a natural course to things. First there is desire, then failure, acceptance, respect, understanding at which point a true skill may have been obtained. The transcedence of a skill to mastery to excellence to art takes a great amount of commitment, perseverance, fortitude, all of which I have not fairly alloted to my poetry. We all know life is a long road, mine seems to enjoy taking 1000 mile detours. But at one point or another, I always return to my poetry to further craft it. With the return it is always more clear what works, what doesn't, what is good, excellent and art.

I see glimpses of art in my poetry where you may not because I know the potential in me and what I have been capable of in the past. If nothing else, each poem clearly captures a moment in my life and a few thoughts that drifted through my consciousness that I would like to share with you ...

Enjoy! November 17, 2000
